Omega Seamaster Planet OceanIf you are familiar with the Omega watches then you already know how much they are known for their continues efforts for manufacturing high quality watches that cater to a large audience. If we take a look a few years back in the past when the company launched the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean watches, they really created a stir among consumers and rightly so.

The watch was available in forty two and forty five point five millimeters, chronograph or standard and it came in plenty of colors. It also had immense good looks, leather or rubber straps with amazing styling and stainless steel bracelets. With this amazing combination of materials and colors, it almost looked like one of James Bond’s watches!

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean: A Solid Brand

I personally love this brand of watches and decided to get my own. I went with the forty two millimeters type, with white arabics, stainless steel bracelet, black bezel and dial. Right out of the box the watch looks pretty impressive and with the anti-reflective coating you’ll see applied on the domed sapphire crystal, its feel and looks really improve a lot.

The defining look on the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean which are the broad arrow style hands are simply breathtakingly beautiful. The unidirectional bezel clicks one hundred and twenty times for 60 minutes worth of timing with an inset lume pip at twelve. Everything works exactly as it should!

Aesthetics

This amazing watch begins with a forty two millimeters stainless steel case with carefully executed polished and brushed finishing and the already popular “turned in” lugs. The case thickness is just fourteen point two millimeters, while the lugs are twenty millimeters.

If you love diving or swimming or even both, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is guaranteed for six hundred meters of water resistance with a screw down, signed manually activated HEV (helium escape valve) and a screw down, signed “main crown”.

Mechanics

Inside the PO ticks, you will find the twenty five hundred co-axial escapement movement, which has a rated power of forty eight hours, as results of laboratory testing shows. Even though this movement is chronometer certified, it doesn’t really stand up to it, because the clock runs short of five seconds every 24 hours.

This is a new watch and compared with the Seamaster Pro which runs at plus one second per day after being used for 8 years, it only goes natural that you are left a bit disappointed.

The dial on the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean features applied luminous markers on the matte black coating and also screened arabics at twelve, six and nine. You’ll also find at the “three” position a quickset date window. If you take a closer look at the broad arrow hands, you will notice they are executed perfectly with inset lume. This is bright and long lasting and it’s fair to say it’s one of the best in the industry.

Bracelet

Taking a look at the bracelet, you will find it’s not really sophisticated. It’s completely brushed with a three link design of simplicity. If you want to achieve a more comfortable and personalized bracelet fit, Omega offers half-links to do so.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean has managed to achieve great levels of interest from high end watches aficionados and soon its status will change to iconic. Its extraordinary build quality, strong performance and great looks make this watch a clear winner!
